A Splash of Life in the Philippines

Filipino children suffer from many tragic hardships including sexual abuse, lascivious conduct, maltreatment or physical abuse, sexual exploitation, neglect and abandonment, mental, verbal and emotional abuse. These travesties can and do occur everyday for Filipino children within their family, their neighborhood, and on the streets.

To do our part in creating a change in this environment CHRF has been working with local groups outside of Manila in assisting victimized children in their recovery and putting a stop to ongoing abuse throughout the Manila district of the Philippines. CHRF has been working specifically with groups on the ground who specialize in finding children who have gone unnoticed but are trapped in life-threatening circumstances as well as groups who educate local schools on how to prevent future abuse. Our goal is to assist these wonderful kids by providing them with priceless opportunities to seek out their dreams and become leaders within their own communities.

During a recent trip to our local project in "Laguna" where severely abused children are being rescued from their dark situations and relocated to a safe and loving environment, our chairman, Colonel V. Doner, was touched to see these formerly shattered children now expressing a beautiful passion for life as they were being educated and prepared to integrate back with their families. Along with continuing CHRF's support of the project, Colonel decided that the children, living in constant 120' weather, deserved a surprise. A POOL!

Upon being informed about their promised pool the children celebrated in classic Filipino style, singing, dancing and shouts of thanks filled the preceding hours. After living their whole lives in fear of sexual perverts and predators, violent family members or malicious strangers CHRF figured the kids could use a swim!

A Samaritan Group Fact Finding Mission
ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

When Colonel V. Doner began asking leading questions of colleagues and co-workers CHRF started funding and initiating research to discover how effective action could be taken to expand his commitment to supporting the victims of Human Trafficking.

Several months of ground-breaking research, networking and initiating communication with a wide range of NGO’s Functioning in the Philippines, Cambodia and Thailand, crystallized into an itinerary of scheduled visitations to pro-jects and service providers in these three countries over an 11 day period.

Welcome to Asia: The World’s Brothel
by Monte E. Wilson

I have held Ethiopian children in my arms that died of starvation and disease only moments later. I have spoken with men and women who lost arms or legs during bombing raids in South Sudan, and watched these same people boiling tree leaves, hoping for some sort of nutrition to give their children. I have spoken to Filipino pastors who were tortured by Muslims because they refused to renounce their Faith. I have witnessed battles in the Philippine Provinces where the New People’s Army cut down innocent men, women and children. I thought nothing could match the horror of what I had already seen … until I saw 12 and 13 year-old girls being forced to sell their bodies.

Asia Through The Eyes Of A Teen
By Brant Doner – 18 years old

This past summer a coalition of charities including Children’s Hunger Relief Fund journeyed to various countries in Asia in order to verify and inspect funded projects as well as possible future projects. The main theme throughout non-profit work in Asia is battling the massive sex slavery issue, which is estimated by the United Nations to have four million children and women involved. My journal is a day-by-day account of the projects, countries and people which we met along the way of trying to help with one of the world’s most heartbreaking tragedies.
