Transforming Africa

Children’s Hunger Relief Fund’s Project committee meets with
African Project Partners

Recently a project team, that included Colonel V. Doner Pres/CEO and his son CJ, traveled to Africa to meet with all of CHRF’s project partners. The purpose of this meeting was twofold:

To develop a unified strategy to “Transform Africa.”

And

To honor the directors and staff of our project partners for the outstanding work that they performed during the past 30 years.

This trip was momentous for CHRF. For the first time all project partners gathered in Uganda to participate in a series of workshops. The sessions were aimed at teaching leadership and communication skills that will be used to grant and administer small business loans. This micro-enterprise project will help “Break the Cycle of Poverty” that has devastated the lives of the children and their families.

The meetings concluded with a dinner that was attended by all. During the dinner Colonel Doner and members of the CHRF board personally acknowledged each program and thanked them for their enormous contributions and the impact that those contributions have made in the lives of the children.

During the trip CJ kept a journal that includes many of the events, which included visits to local projects. He wrote:

“Over the 19 days that I spent in Africa, my life changed dramatically. Although I had been to Africa before, I had not had such a “hands on” experience. Now as I live my life I will always remember the people that I met and the children that I have been fortunate enough to bring joy to. Working with CHRF has been an incredible experience. I am incredibly impressed with their work in Africa and the perseverance and vision put forth from their team members. In life, I find, very few things are certain. However there is certainly suffering in this world, and the volunteers, team members, board members, and workers of CHRF are choosing to provide all the aid they can give to those who are suffering.”
